We took the plunge - got "real" cell phones! Got flip phones - because I don't like locking the keys. Could have gotten free phones w/bluetooth capabilites and free bluetooth equipment - but they weren't flip - and I really can't see us using the bluetooth technology. Have had it on my laptop all these years and never used it. So, the afternoon was spent putting in phone numbers and playing around with the new phone.
One of the girls that waited on us looked so familiar to me - I told her that right off the bat. At one point something was mentioned about golf and she said she played H.S. and at D.C. so, we just decided we had seen her on the golf course. Then, as she was filling out our information she said, "Hey! Are you Reid's mom and dad? I've been to your house and you fed me!" She worked at KCC with Reid and Joe one summer. So funny! Then she went into the back room and came out with this cute little seat that folds flat to carry - perfect for on the golf course! Fred said he sure can use it tomorrow!
Fred is leaving for Manchester at 6:45 in the morning. It's a 36 hole tournament - the reason for the seat! I'm leaving around 9:00 for Edon. Going to pick up Linda and head to Ft. Wayne for lunch. Sunday I will take Grandma to church at Edgerton. She has been wanting to go, but I know it is no fun to go alone.
And on Monday it is back to school. :-( I've really enjoyed this week! I guess it has been the calm before the storm. I have two meetings here in town the week we go back, a meeting in Bowling Green the next week, taping the last DCTV program the last week in April, going to Chicago the first week in May and to Toledo to tape a special mass the 6th graders are doing on May 23. Will have to have a slideshow for the 6th grade graduation on the 30th of May. Right now we have about 500 pictures and by the time they get back from Camp, go to Chicago and do that mass we will have 600+ and will need to narrow it down to about 75. That will be a job!

ai last night
So, Todd, you were real close last night when you said Haley! I thought it could have been any one of several people that went off - Chris didn't surprise me.
Big shopping day with Wilma yesterday. Left here around 9:00 a.m. and got home a little after 6:00 p.m. I slept good last night!
We stopped at Beaners - decided we would go back to Cabin Fever next time. We both had a Carmel latte and it was sickening sweet. And their pastries didn't look near as good as CF.
Without a car today - getting the lock fixed on the passenger side. Fred took it in yesterday and when we stopped at noon it wasn't finished yet. Probably won't get it until tomorrow. Going to have to call Ruth and see if I can have a ride to Pie Club tonight.
I took Fred's car this afternoon and went to the Fort Grounds and took pictures for DCTV. Want to go to the Canal Site and Johnny Appleseed site tomorrow. Yes, a history lesson!

quiet
Kami and the kids just left. We had such a nice time - Alex thought it went too fast! :-) They are coming back for Easter, so he seemed okay with leaving since they were coming back.
Yesterday we went to Grandma Darr's - Elizabeth called me Grandma Darr all weekend! Went to the Dairy Treat and got an ice cream cone with a face on it. Today after lunch we went to the Mall and Meijer. Found some good bargains!
Then we stopped at Office Max on the way home and I got a new digital camera for school with some donation money. Got the Kodak 710 - 7.1 MP and 10x Optical Zoom. Can't wait to get it out of the box and try it out. And it came with a 512 MB card.
Now I am going down to Wilma's and see if we can take her car to Ft. Wayne on Wednesday. The passenger door on our car won't unlock. Did that for awhile when we first got home, then last week it wouldn't lock, and today it went back to not unlocking. Kind of hard scooting across the seat!

yahoo!
When the bell rang at 3:30 this afternoon I felt like yelling "YAHOO!" Felt so good to know the week was over and we don't have to go back for over a week! But, when we get back there won't be many days left so we are going to have to work extra hard!
Kami and the kids are coming tomorrow for a couple of days. Will probably make a trek to Edon on Sunday. I think they are going back home on Monday. Will be fun having them here. Not sure what else will go on during the week. Probably a shopping day to Ft. Wayne with Wilma!

right on the mark
Wilma called right before American Idol was on and asked who I thought would get booted off tonight - I was right on the mark! If you don't believe me ask Wilma! I was back to liking Blake this week. Wasn't so sure the last couple of weeks. Actually, I loved all the songs this week and tonight when Lulu sang To Sir With Love - for a few minutes I was back in my blue plaid kilt skirt w/matching blue sweater and fishnet stockings at one of my High School Dances! (If that isn't a visual, I don't know what is!) I loved that movie and loved Lulu!!!! And Peter Noone! Knew every single word to Henry the VIII AND Mrs. Brown You've Gawt a Lovely Dawghter! Who didn't love Herman's Hermits?

long day of basketball!
I guess we are having a really hard time adjusting back to Ohio time, or maybe it's just that we wish we were still in California, so our bodies are making us feel like we are in California! :) Neither of us woke up until 9:30 this morning! And we are never tired at night.
Fred has watched basketball ALL DAY LONG! I don't know how he does it! I watched enough to know that one of my final two picks is no longer in the tournament. That is not a good thing. Oh well.
Had a bad experience at Applebee's last night and will probably never go to another Applebee's unless it is the last place on earth! We were taken to our table at 5:55 and never left until 7:30. The service was terrible and the food was worse! There was $16 left on the gift card, so when we left Fred gave it to a couple with a young child who were waiting to be seated. Hope they had a better meal than we did!
Today was laundry and worked on marketing stuff for school. Wanted to start working on our television program tonight, but doesn't look very promising. Tomorrow we are going to Sam's in Ft. Wayne in the morning then on to Edon. Fred will watch ballgames up there all day. At least I will have someone to keep me company. :)

weigh-in continues
Barb and I weighed in early this morning. After the cheesecake last Saturday, the Edy's Hollywood Cheesecake ice cream all week and the girl scout cookies - I had lost 1 1/2 lbs. I think it's because I was sick this week. Didn't eat much but ice cream when I stayed home Tuesday and didn't have time to eat much yesterday - so I will take it! Barb owed me this week!
Let the games begin, huh? I'll be back in the bedroom watching ABC tonight - new Grey's Anatomy! All I'm interested in is looking at the results when the games are over!
So what's up with American Idol? Hope the guys get better! I heard on some show the other day that Chris has a strategy! We'll see.

summer?
It almost felt like summer out today! What a difference! But supposed to be back in the 40's by the end of the week.
I stayed home today. Started coughing yesterday and was so tired when I woke up this morning. Tuesday is a bad day for me, anyway - I go to St. Mary's, then to St. John's (and have the worst class ever) then back to St. Mary's for DCTV until 5:00 and was to have a meeting at 5:30. So, I stayed in bed until noon! I did go to the meeting at 5:30, it was a marketing meeting and we really need to get on the stick with Kindergarten registration. And I really like the people on the committee and enjoy the meetings.
Almost time for the tournament to start! When I told Fred and Reid who I had picked to win it I told them I expected an upset - they both said it was going to have to be a very big upset! :)

destination imagination
Had a great day with Kami, Eric, Alex and Elizabeth! Alex's group put on a cute presentation and did a great job! Eric took Elizabeth to the zoo in the afternoon, Fred went to the car and listened to OSU basketball and Kami, Alex and I went to a few other presentation. About 3:00 we had Fred take us to a restaurant for dessert! Went back for the awards presentation at 4:45. It was a nice time!

a week under the belt
Well, we have a week of school under our belt and we are slowly feeling like we are living in Ohio time! When we have to set the clocks ahead this weekend we will fall back into some jet lag, I'm sure!
Made Wilma and everyone at school look at my 200+ pictures. They all acted like they enjoyed looking at them - how could they not love those cute princess faces?
When I walked out of school this afternoon I almost thought I was in CA - almost, I said! It was very warm - tempted to take the coat off, but resisted the urge.
Oh, before I forget, had a weigh-in this week. First time in a month and I was just sure I was back to where I had started, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I had not gained a pound - hadn't lost any, but was satisfied with not gaining! Barb had lost a pound.
Tomorrow we have to get up early, 6:00. We are going to Delaware to watch Alex do his Destination Imagination skit. They perform at 9:30 then we have to wait until 5:00 for the awards ceremony. So, will be a long day. Alex's group does do another skit in the afternoon, but only one adult is allowed to be in the room with them during that. Will be fun to see Kami/Eric and the kids, though. Fred has a H.S. buddy that lives about 5 minutes from the school we will be at - so we may drop by to see them.
Hey, SouthDakotaGirl!!!!!! Isn't this a great way to keep up on things?

home in Ohio
We are back in the cold, snowy state of Ohio. :( We had such a great time in California! It was so good spending time with Todd, Ann and the girls. The week in LA/Disneyland was so much fun! Having a hard time getting adjusted to Ohio life, again!
