getting better

Well, the weather is getting better. The sun is shining and it is in the 50's - but very windy. Went to BG this morning for a meeting and had to park far, far away - even farther than the rec center. The organization I was there for had their own shuttle running - so took it to Olscamp. But, when it was over it was better and I had met someone that knew Jasmine - so we decided to walk back to our cars and had a nice chat.
There were beautiful potted flowers at the tables for centerpieces and if your notepad had a gold sticker on the back you got to take it home with you - I was the lucky one at our table! Now I wish it was warm enough to put it outside on the bench!
So, I got back in town around 1:30 and decided to play hooky and just go home for the rest of the afternoon - felt good driving right on by the school.
Tonight my friend, Catherine, and I are going to Bud's - I'm thinking lemon pie! Yum!!!!

april 14th snow?

Are you tired of listening about the Ohio weather woes? Here it is, April 14th and it looked like blizzard conditions late this afternoon. By 6:00 the ground was pure white - not a spot of green grass anywhere!

friday the 13th

This was actually a good day - very exciting at school. Let me start by saying I nominated two of our teachers for the Diocesen Golden Apple Award - but only one could be sent on to the Diocese, so Sandy (our Principal) and Fr. Tim decided it should be Jill's nomination. I also nominated Jill for the BEST award through NWOET at Bowling Green. Jill is a finalist for the BEST award and is required to attend their annual Board of Directors meeting on Monday at BG and have a table display. Unfortunately, Jill can't attend the meeting on Monday because she is taking her class to Camp Mohican for three days. So, NWOET said I could stand in for her. We spent most of the morning getting everything around for the table display on Monday. Then about 2:45 Sandy came to my door waving an apple like crazy. I could not figure out what she was doing and all of a sudden it dawned on me - Jill had won the Golden Apple Award. We went running down the hallway to Jill's room and went in singing Hail to the Queen! Jill thought we had lost it until I told her she won! She was so excited. Jill isn't one to show emotion - so it was pretty awesome to see her reaction. When things settled down we got online to check out exactly what the award was and she can invite 7 people to the award dinner, she receives a crystal apple w/a 24k gold cross in it, a lapel pin, gets her picture taken with the Bishop (she is most thrilled about this - not!) and she receives $5000!!!!! I thought she was going to loose it right then and there! The money can be used for personal or professional purposes. I told her she was not to even think about using it for professional purposes! A little bit later she told me she would really like to go to Italy to see her daughter, Elaina, in the fall while she is going to college there. I told her then that is what she should do. Jill thought that was too selfish, though. I told her it was $5000 that she would not normally have and she should use it to have fun and do whatever she wants and that means going to Italy! I am SOOOOO happy for her!
Oh, by the way - she told me I could have the $25 gift certificate they will be giving me for her on Monday. :-) Isn't that a hoot?

Easter

Didn't really feel much like Easter weather-wise! But other than that we had a real nice weekend. I love having everyone home together - missed Todd and Ann and the girls bunches! And we all wished we were with them in California - hanging out at the park!

more miserable

Well, I didn't think it could get any worse than yesterday, but today is even more miserable! It has been blowing snow almost all day and it is so, so windy and so, so cold! Even my winter coat, earmuffs and scarf didn't begin to keep me warm!

snow, snow go away!!!!!

It is just miserable outside! It is SNOWING and cold and very windy! Even I, who would rather have winter than hot, humid summer, am ready for this to stop! It looks so weird driving down our street - pretty daffodils, crocus, forsythia and beautiful flowered trees are in bloom and so pretty - but you have to look at them through the snowflakes!

weekend

Had a nice weekend. Went to Edon Saturday morning, picked up mom then headed to Auburn. Linda, Mom and I went to the Factory for lunch - we all had shrimp - surprise! After lunch we headed to the mall. Talked mom into buying a new outfit - she said it was dad's birthday present. Saturday would have been Dad's 86th birthday. When we left the mall we went to Atz's and had ice cream. Yum! The building doesn't look so great anymore - but the ice cream is still really, really good! Then we headed back to Auburn. Mom and I had pizza from the Edon Pizza Shop Saturday night. They have good pizza - had the leftovers for lunch on Sunday and I think it was even better warmed up.......in the oven that is!
I took Mom to church in Edgerton Sunday morning. It was nice, but after listening to Fr. Tim I'm spoiled, I guess. We took mom's car to Ft. Wayne on Saturday and didn't feel like switching cars around and putting hers in the garage when we got home - so we left hers out Saturday night. When we looked out Sunday morning her car was solid with red Maple buds! Then when we got ready to leave for church some birds had decided to decorate it, too! What a mess! So, after church we went to Bryan and got a car wash!
So, it was a nice weekend. I always enjoy spending time with Mom.
Today was back to school. I don't think anyone wanted to be there - teachers or kids. Only 8 weeks left - it will go fast.
Today was warm - tomorrow is supposed to be in the high 70's - Wednesday a chance of snow!!!!!!!!! And in the 30's for Easter!
